The search bar is one of the most useful tools in the program and will allow you to search an array of items, including reports, securities, and built-in FactSet applications.
If you're ever unsure on where something is, this should be your first point of call.
You can find the search bar at the top.
It's icon as is small magnifying glass.
Alternatively, you can press control shift F as a shortcut.
Let's say you want to search for a company and bring up their financial reports.
You need to complete the search in the field, and a list of all relevant searches will be displayed when searching for companies.
You can either search with the company name or its ticker.
The ticker is displayed here, in this case, a APL dash us.
As I've searched for Apple, the search ahead feature will automatically make suggestions at the top in blue.
To save time, you can use the tab key to quickly scroll through these.
If you're making more specific searches, you may want to narrow down your search with the dropdown menu to filter a category.
Once you've found the item you are looking for, you only need to press enter.
However, if you're already on a tab like company security news, you can press control plus enter.
Instead. This will load only the identifier into your current tab.
The search bar can be used to quickly bring up pieces of data without having to bring up the corresponding report.
By entering a search term paired with an ID or company, I can find the answer to some common financial questions quickly.
Here I've searched for apple's EBIT figure for the last 12 months.
You can also search for query source from screening.
Just type highest, most top, followed by a metric of your choice.
