One of the main advantages of using Outlook is that you can manage multiple email addresses in one place. If we look on the left hand side, I've got four email addresses in here, and if I want to play around with the order a bit, I can do. So if I want to put the Gmail account to the top I can simply click and drag, drag that to the top and that could potentially be my favorite account. Speaking of favorites, if I expand favorites here you'll notice that I've got lots of options. Now, at the moment, these are all very high level, like an inbox, for instance, but it could actually also be a folder within the inbox that I've selected as well. And I'll show you how to do that a little bit later on. But just high level now just to show you how this can be used if there's something in there that you don't want, for instance. So I don't particularly want my work email in here. I can right click and I'm going to select Remove from Favorites, okay? Similar with deleted items, I'm gonna remove those from favorites as well. But I do want to add FE gmail.com up to there so I'm gonna right click on Inbox and I'm gonna select Add to Favorites. And again, if I want to make that the top option, I can just click and drag very, very simply. So that's great. There's no real significance to the order in which you put these different email addresses. However, it would make common sense to put your favorite one at the top or the bottom so it's easy to access, okay? Now, if we go to the settings, so again file, account settings, and account settings, we'll bring up that box that we looked at in the previous video whereby we created our new email account, okay, when we were working on the IMAP Gmail account. Now, you'll notice that at the moment I've got my outlook.com email address set as default. I can change that if I want to. I can go down to... I can make it this FE Gmail account, for instance. I just have to select the account I wanna change, then select the set as default button, okay? And hopefully, oh, there we go, so FE@gmail.com is now the top one, fantastic. Now, to be honest, that's not really changed an awful lot, again, on our view. If I click on new email now you'll see it says it's coming from colindoolingFE@gmail.com, but that's actually only because I've got this selected, okay? If I click down here, say, and then do new email, it's now coming from colindooling@outlook.com, okay? And actually, I can change who the email is coming from very, very easily just by selecting the down arrow where it says from and have all those options available in the dropdown list there, okay? The main advantage of changing your default email is for things like Mail Merge, okay, and I'll show you how to use Mail Merge in another video. But when you're using things like Mail Merge, you want it to be sending it from the correct account. So you normally, for Mail Merge, you're probably using a work account so you probably wanna set up your work email address as your default for that very reason.
