If you send an email out by mistake, it's actually not that easy to recall it and it won't always work, okay? But I'm gonna show you the steps anyway because sometimes it does work. So I'm gonna hit Send. I've sent my email and then, uh-oh, I didn't mean to send it, so I need to get it back. So this email was sent from my colindoolingFE@outlook.com address, which means if I go to the Sent items, I can see it here. There we go.
So what I need to do is open up the email and then I need to recall it, okay? So the easy way to do this is to go to the File menu, go down to Resend or Recall, and select Recall This Message. So when you do that, you've got a few choices. You can either delete unread copies of the message or delete unread copies and replace with a new message. And by default it says, "Tell me if a recall succeeds or fails for each recipient." Now, bear in mind the warning: "Some recipients may have already read the message." And if they have, I'm afraid it will never be able to be recalled. Similarly, if you've emailed an IMAP address, it will have then gone onto the IMAP server. You won't be able to get that one back either. So that will also not be able to be recalled. So really you're thinking only about exchange email addresses where this is going to work. Anyway, let's press OK and see what happens. So I can close that down now. And I sent it to this outlook.com address here. There we go. And you can see there's two emails in there. Now, the top one is the recall and this is the actual email message. So as you can see, even though you're trying to recall the message, realistically the recipient has all the power. They can still read it if they want to. It's not like it's magically going to disappear from their inbox, certainly not straight away anyways. So they're gonna have a few opportunities or an opportunity to read it whether you want them to or not, okay? Hopefully they'll notice that you've written recall here, and they'll just hit delete and delete, but it's not guaranteed.
