Let's just take a look at some other items you may see on the financial statements. The first is the claims handling provision. So this is often just baked into the general claims provision but this represents the cost of actually assessing the claims. And sometimes it's split out into a separate line item but most companies will probably just bake it into the general reserves. In force policies, you're probably more likely to hear this in connection with life insurance. All this means is the existing policy book that the insurance company has in place. So if they shut their doors to new business these are the policies that would be left and the solvency ratio is very, very important. This is measuring the amount of capital you have versus regulatory minimums. So if you have your regulatory capital based on the calculations the regulators would force you to do of 140, and the regulatory minimum is 100 then your solvency ratio will be 140%.
