In this workout, there are two requirements, we're only going to do the first one. It asks us to create a column chart to show values of satisfaction scores. And up here we've got satisfaction scores running from one to five, and we can see the number of people who have reported these numbers. We'd like to create a column chart of this. So the first thing we do is we select all of the data that we want to be shown. We then go up to the insert ribbon, and in the chart section we've got lots of options. I'm going to go for the top left and in here, the 2D column section, we've got clustered column. If I click on that and our basic column chart has been created, that's fantastic. I can see that the satisfaction score of one relatively low satisfaction score four relatively high.
I'd love to have some data labels to make those scores a bit more explicit rather than me having to kind of look across and try and guess that the satisfaction score of one had three people. So what I need to do is I need to have selected anywhere within the chart. I can't have selected outside. I have to have selected inside. And you notice I get this new ribbon menu appear at the top chart design. On the left hand side of that, I'm going to click on add chart element, and I go down to the data labels. Now, as you hover over each of the data labels, you get a preview, the data callouts. That looks kind of cool that I like that. But if I go to outside end, that's the one I like. Click on that. One more thing I'd like to do. I'd like to put a chart title in. Now what I could do is I could just click into here and I could just start typing. However, what I'd like to do instead is I'd like to click into it and press equal. And you might notice in the formula bar, that's where the equals has appeared. It hasn't appeared actually in the title. This means I can link to another cell as I would in any Excel formula.
I'm going to click to B5. When I press enter, enter, my chart title is now linked to that cell. If I go to that cell and I update it, maybe I capitalize the S of score and press enter. Fantastic. That has linked through to the chart. So a column chart.
