In this workout, we're going to produce the second chart here, a pie chart to show percentages of satisfaction scores. So I'll click and select the data I want to appear in the chart, then go to the insert ribbon, and in the chart section there's a pie chart. So I click on that and it's the very first one I want there in the top left. And there we've got our basic pie charts. Awesome.
I want to make a couple of changes here. The most important for me is data labels. Let's add some data labels so I make sure that I've clicked anywhere in the charts. And the chart design ribbon appears. If we click into that on the left hand side it says add chart elements, then select data labels, and we've now got some options. If I click on center, it's quite nice. I can see the number clearly in the middle there. Inside end, you might notice a big difference happens with outside end. The data labels now appear outside the chart, which is great, but the pie chart itself got smaller. If I go back to inside end, yes, the pie chart again goes back to being bigger. This is my preference, so I'm going to click on the inside end, but the only problem is I can't quite see the font. So what I'd like to do is just change the font color. I'll make sure that I've got just the data label selected now, then go to the home ribbon and I'll change the font color to white. I'll make it bold as well.
And those data labels are now that bit easier to see. One extra thing to change I'd like to add a chart title. So I click on chart title I press equals, equals does not appear here, but it does appear in the formula bar. And I can now link to a cell in Excel, and that cell and the chart title are now dynamically linked. If I change the words satisfaction score to capitalize the S of score, that updates in the title.
So a simple pie chart.
