Now we're going to create a waterfall chart. So we've got an M&A deal here, and we've got the pre-deal EPS. We've got the effective synergies, the effect of interest, the effect of share issuance, and the dilution, and then the post-deal EPS. And we want to show that as a kind of waterfall value creation. So I'll go to insert chart, and if I go to all charts, it does actually show it in the recommended charts, but I'll show you in all charts. It's a waterfall chart down at the bottom here. Then I'll choose, okay, and it's actually done most of the heavy lifting for us, but I probably want to add an access title here. So I'll just add on the access title, the primary vertical, and I'll put EPS, EPS in US Dollars. So for the chart title, I'm going to call this value creation.
Now everything is pretty much good. You'll see it automatically put in connector lines. And next, if I click on the data bars, we'll see it selects them all. But then if I click again on just the last data bar, you can see it says set as total, and you need to make sure that's activated because then I'll give you the true value creation. And you can see, although the synergies are four, that's eaten up by the interest and the dilution. This legend is irrelevant, so I'll just delete that. And then if I just change this, let's say I make my synergies six, you'll see that the value of creation changes as well. So this is how we can do a waterfall China. Now, if you don't want these background lines, just click on them and then hit delete and they'll disappear. But you can see, still, see you have the connectors in between there too. So that's a value creation waterfall chart in Excel.
