In this workout, we've already got one pie chart with lots of logos showing us the market cap of the largest tech companies in year one. But the workout asks us to produce a second pie chart using the data for year five, and copy the formatting from the first pie chart to the second.
This is a very handy time saver. If you are going to produce two charts that are very similar or three or four or five charts, you can just copy the formatting from the first to the second. So let's produce this second pie chart. So I'll select my data, go to the insert ribbon pie charts. Pie charts great, and there's our second pie charts, but it doesn't look anywhere near as beautiful as the first one. So what I can do is I just select the first pie chart. I don't have to select anything in particular in it, and I copy. So I'm going to do that pressing control C. I then go down to the second pie charts and I make sure I've got it selected, but I now need to do paste special, lots of shortcuts to go to past special, but let's use the ribbon. I'll go to home, paste, and then paste special.
Now what I want to do is I want to paste the format. So I'll click on that and watch what happens when I press. Okay, amazing.
The legend at the bottom disappears. Data labels appear. The logos appear. I just need to put in the chart title to link me up to the second set of data.
So even though all the numbers have changed dramatically, the sizes of each slice have changed dramatically. The formatting can very quickly be copied down. What a great time saver.
