We'll now explore how you can build simple charts. In PowerPoint, you would only create charts in PowerPoint if the chart is simple and doesn't cover much data or detail.
If the chart is more complex, you will import it from Excel as it's more efficient to have the chart linked to the underlying Excel file.
If updates are made to make creating charts in PowerPoint more efficient, you can copy and paste data from Excel into PowerPoint to create a chart.
You can input the data manually without transferring over from Excel.

3. select the chart type you'd like to use and press.

The chart will appear on the slide along with an Excel spreadsheet.
Remove the default data and then press control V to paste in the data copied from the Excel spreadsheet, and then close the Excel window.
5. The chart will then appear in the slide to edit the data further, go to chart design and select edit data.
Keep in mind that if you update the data in Excel, this won't be carried over into the PowerPoint chart.
This process still applies if you don't have the data from Excel to use for the chart.
You can just input the data yourself in the Excel panel rather than copying it from elsewhere.
