The second and more detailed option for formatting shapes is using the formatting options panel on the right of the screen.

This will appear if you right click on a shape and select format, shape, or while selected on a shape, click the diagonal arrow below shape effects.

This opens a panel that gives you more options to define the specifics of that formatting option or effect.

Have a go yourself now by creating a shape, applying some formatting or effects, and using the shape options panel to adjust the levels.

In the example here we've added a 3D effect paired with a reflection and a shadow.

One thing to be careful of when applying formatting or effects is to be consistent and the general rule is to use effects sparingly.

You don't want to create overly complex shapes that detract from the information, but rather support it.

Another consideration is whether these effects align with the brand's guidelines.
