To add labels, we firstly need a label on the left hand side of our purple bar and then secondly on the right hand side of the purple bar In order to get the left hand side, it's relatively straight forward What I need to do is select the white bar to the left of the purple bar I right click on it I click "Add Data Labels" I then right click on them "Format Data Labels" And I want to change the label position to "Inside End", so it's just inside the end of the white bar So those labels are done, fantastic! What we now need to do is move onto the labels on the right hand side of the purple bar And that's a little bit harder We need some extra information to help us out We're now going to include our high numbers that have been sitting unused up until this point We also need to tell excel where to put them, so we're going to put them (our first one) at the 6.5 position And each one underneath will be one less than that We're going to create an X Y scatter graph, so my high price for the EV/EBITDA calendar year 2 multiple of 19.67, will be at the 6.5 position The next one down will be at the 5.5 position, the next one down at the 4.5 position etc So I'm now going to go from my graph, I'm going to right click And then select data, and I want to add new legend entries I'm going to call this the data labels And it now asks me for my X values. My X values are my high figures It then asks me for the Y values, the Y values are the 6.5, 5.5 etc If I press "OK" And I go back down to my graph, I've now got this yellow line that has appeared. That's good, that's what we want We'll get rid of it in a second I right click on that, I add data labels And we notice at the moment, it's just giving me my Y values, I need the X values instead So I right on those, "Format Data Labels" And it now comes up with label options and the the "Label Contains", I add in the X value and I un-tick the Y value Great! They are the right labels now, I now need to click on the yellow line, "Format Data Series" Go to "Fill", "Line" and I want "No Line" Change the line to "Marker" and I want marker options "None" And my graph is now down, I could make those numbers a little bit smaller, make them the same as my x-axis numbers at the bottom Some of my text is disappearing at the moment, I could extend my graph to the right, so that I could see all of that text But that is your football field done
