Before we look in detail at any of the menus let's add some text to the document and see what it looks like. There's a really quick shortcut for revealing sample text and it's this, =lorem[] and hit Enter. And all of a sudden you become an expert in Latin. Okay, just insert some placeholder text and you may or may not have recognized it as Latin, and don't worry you don't need to translate it. Basically, this is just a really handy way of adding a few paragraphs to the document that we can use in our examples. Now, what I would like you to do is pause the video and write down three or more observations regarding the layout and formatting of this specific passage. And again, I really don't care about the translation. Okay, welcome back. So, here's some of the things that you may have noticed. First of all, there's a margin around the edge. So, okay, we've got a bit of space on the left hand side here. We've got a bit of space on the right hand side. You'll notice that the text is left align so that each new line of text starts on this left margin along here, okay? The text on the right of the hand doesn't actually line up exactly on the right margin. In fact, if the word is too big to fit it moves down to the next line. Okay, what else can we notice? The space, there's a space between the paragraphs, it's slightly bigger than the spaces between the individual lines. Now, one other thing that we can't see on here at the moment and it's something that actually I talked about in the first video, and that is the fact that we can't see the format marks on the screen, so we should fix that. And if you remember, the shortcut is Control + asterisk, so Control+ Shift + 8, if you like. So when you do this, there we go, you will see all of these marks appear, all these paragraph marks appear. Now the paragraph marks are there, you'll notice some other things as well. You only actually get a paragraph mark where you've got an empty line or at the end of a paragraph, okay? At the end of sentences, it doesn't appear. You also see that there's a kind of a dot that's appeared between each word as well. Now, the look and feel of this is quite, I think people find it quite uncomfortable initially, and I just, don't get too stressed about that, okay? When you print out the document you will not see any of these marks. What they do do is they make it much easier to check the formatting of our documents which is super critical when we are finishing off to a high standard.
