In this playlist on insurance financial statements, we're going to understand how insurance accounting works to help us to analyze a set of financial statements for an insurance company.
We'll start with P&C insurance, looking at the accounting for premiums, claims, and reserves. We'll also explore the accounting for reinsurance.
We'll then do a walkthrough of US GAAP and IFRS financial statements and highlight any key differences.
We're then going to look at life insurance, starting off with the fundamental principles. We'll then explore US GAAP accounting for different product types so that we understand the profit profile and reserves development for each product.
We'll also do a walkthrough of US GAAP financial statements so we're familiar with the key line items.
We'll then explore IFRS accounting models so that we're familiar with the profit profile and reserves development under IFRS.
