There are different types of image file types that you can use in PowerPoint, depending on your needs and preferences.
Some of the most common image file types are jpeg, PNG, and SVG.
Each file type has its advantages and disadvantages such as quality, compression and transparency jpeg.
Joint Photographic Experts Group.
This is a popular file type for photographs as it can display millions of colours and produce high quality images.
However, JPEG also uses lossy compression, which means that some image data is discarded to reduce the file size.
This can result in artifacts or distortion, especially if you edit or resize the image repeatedly.
JPEG does not support transparency.
PNG Portable Network Graphics, this is a newer file type that is similar to jpeg, but uses LOSSLESS compression, which means that no image data is lost and the quality is preserved.
PNG is primarily used for flat graphics, which means that once exported from the editing software, you aren't then able to make further edits from the PNG.
PNG also supports transparency, which allows you to create images with transparent backgrounds or layers.
PNGs may have larger file sizes than jpeg, SVG scalable vector graphics.
This is a file type that uses vector graphics, which means that the image is composed of mathematical shapes and curves that can be scaled up or down without losing quality or detail.
SVG is ideal for logos, icons, diagrams, and other graphics that have simple shapes and colours.
SVG also supports transparency and has smaller file sizes than JPEG or PNG image. File types can affect the appearance and performance of your presentation, so you should choose the file type that best suits your purpose and audience.
