Now the next thing to do is to add some connectors, okay? So we're gonna go with elbow connectors again. And again, it's Insert, Shapes. And I'm gonna grab the elbow connector we used before that had the arrow on, okay? And starting with the Parent company, that's gonna come down and connect to the Holding company, okay? Now before I go copying this connector, I wanna make it look how I want it to look for all the other connectors first of all, 'cause that saves me doing multiple bits of formatting. So let's right-click on the connector. And what we're going to do now is select Format Shape again, okay? Now remember, you could also use the menu at the top of the screen if you want to. So I am going to now change the thickness of this. So it's a bit thin at the moment. Let's make that with two, okay? And maybe change the color. I think I don't like that blue color there. So let's make the connectors, let's make all the connectors black. Okay, so there we go, we've got a nice, nice black connector there. Great stuff. Okay, so I'm gonna create a queue copies of that. So ctrl + D, ctrl + D, ctrl + D. There we are. And then I'm going to connect the Holding company to Op co. 1 and to, sorry, I mean yes, I'm gonna connect the Holding company to Op co. 1. I'm going to also connect it to Op co. 2.
There we go, that's right. I'm also gonna connect the Parent company to Op co. 3.
There we go. And finally, I'm gonna connect the Noncontrolling interest to Op co. 3 as well. So I'm just gonna duplicate that.
And there we go. That goes there and that goes there. Okay, so we've got everything kind of lined up properly now and you can see where all the connections are sitting, which is great. So let's kind of describe the ownership structure in terms of percentages. Okay, so we're gonna insert some text boxes in order to do that, all right? So what I will do is I will insert a text box. That's Alt+N for insert, X for text box, remember? And we're going to have, a lot of 'em are gonna be a hundred percent, so let's just type a hundred percent in here and we'll position it where we want to. So the Parent company is going to own 100% of the holding company. Now you might decide, "Well, that a hundred percent is a bit too big." Okay, and I think I agree with that. So let's make it smaller. So a shortcut to make text smaller that you can use is control + shift + <, okay, or less than operator. So this is with a comma on my keyboard. So control + shift + < and that will make the size of the font shrink. There we go. And once you're happy with the font size, okay, just put it where you want it and then just copy and paste again or duplicate the text box, and again, position it where you want to. And you'll notice this is better than using shapes because it's literally just text when I'm to go changing any borders or anything else which is obviously time consuming and a little bit fiddly. So this is much, much better. Okay, so we'll put that one there. And finally, we'll put the Noncontrolling interest one up here, and that can be 20%.
Okay, and we'll have another one. Oops, let's put it over here now. Another one that says 80% for the Parent company's ownership of Op co. 3.
Okay, there we go. So that's kind of taking quite a bit of shape here. If I was gonna be super critical, there's a couple of things I'd change. So for instance, I'd wanna make sure that these two text boxes for Op co. 1 or Op co. 2 are aligned properly. So maybe what we'll do we'll align those top. There you go, so they're both at the same height now, okay, which is fine. I think I'm relatively happy with the rest of it. If you don't like the fact that these two lines are touching, you can always change the point at which the Parent company's line or connector touches Op co. 3. So I could always click and drag that around to the side here. When you do that, of course, though you could end up with a situation here where it's now going into the middle of Op co. 2. So we're gonna have to do something here. So maybe, what's the best thing we can do here? I'll tell you what we can do. Let's put that one back where it was. That's fine. Put that one back where it was. And maybe what we'll do is make this join on the side, okay? So got a few options there. There you go. So that just makes it a little bit more clearer as to where all the connections are sitting there, okay? That's pretty clear. And I'm quite happy with that. Good thing you might want to do is just change the color of some of those companies, okay, within the structure. So maybe you wanna make all the Op cos a certain color. We could select those three companies now, okay. And we might just wanna change the fill color. Okay, so you can go straight to the drawing element for this if you want to. I could simply go into here and I could select the red color in the standard colors if I want to. You'll notice I've got that blue border, which is fine for the other shapes 'cause it's the same color. But in this case, the blue border I think is a bit distracting. So let's format the shapes and let's get rid of the lines there. So we'll go with no line there. I think that looks a lot slicker. And maybe we'll make the Holding company a different color as well. So let's make that another color. What color should we use for this one? Let's make the Holding company purple, okay. So the holding company can be purple. And again, we will go with no line around the outside. So there we go. There's our company structure now. And I've gone through that pretty quickly, okay. But it's still taking like over 10 minutes to do. I've gone through it pretty quickly. Have a go at replicating that yourself, okay? And I've kind of really tried to make sure it looks pretty smart and that everything is lined up properly, okay, and it's sort of a nice clear, easy diagram. So you'd have to spend a little bit of time on this, but I think you'll agree that it's worth it putting the efforts in just to try and make the diagrams look a little bit better.
