Now let's look at shortcuts for copying and pasting. And the first one to copy is control and C. So press and hold control and then press C. If I want to paste just once and once only, the enter button is the quickest way to do this. However, if I want to do multiple pastes, I can press control V, move to another cell, press control V again, move to another cell control V again, as many times as you like, so you get multiple pastes of the item you've copied. If you want to full right or fill down or copyright or copy down, then you need to start in the cell that you're copying. You then select the cells to the right hand side that you want to copy into, and you just need to press control R. Alternatively, if you want to copy down, again, you start in the cell that you are copying, select the cells underneath that you want to copy into and press control D Let's have a look at this in Excel.
I'm in cell I4 and I want to copy the word location. So I press control and C and the dotted lines around indicate that that is now copied. I use my arrows to move into a new cell where I want to paste this and press enter. And that is pasted once and once only if I want to do multiple pastes. So I'm just gonna copy again, control C, go into the cell where I want to paste this, and then control V.
I can then move into another cell where I want to paste control V, another cell control V, et cetera. You might notice I've still got cell J4 copied. So to get rid of that, once I'm finished with my multiple pastes, I just need to press escape. Let's get rid of some of these that I have pasted and demonstrate copying to the right or copying down. I'd like to copy the word location from J4 to the right, so I need to start by being in the cell. I want to copy, which I am J4. I hold down the shift key, then the right arrows for as many cells to the right as I would like to copy into. And I then press control and R. Notice I did not have to press CTR C first. Similarly, if I want to copy down, I start in the cell, I want to copy hold down shift, use my arrow keys to go down into the cells I want to copy into. And then Ctrl and D again, no need to press control C first.
