Our last top tip for a productivity shortcut is to edit. If you want to go into the formula bar and edit a formula that you've already written, F2 allows you to jump into that formula bar. And then once you're finished, you can either press enter, or you can press F2 again if you want to come outta that formula bar and add more things to the formula. Let's see that in Excel. I've moved over to the right hand side of the sheet here where I had some blank space, and I've written in some numbers, 1, 3, 5, and 7. I'm gonna add some of those together. So equals, and then my arrow keys. So let me add the 1 plus arrow keys again, 3 plus 5.
If I now realize that I did not want to add the five, instead I wanted to add the seven, I need to go into my formula bar to edit the formula, but I don't want to do that using my mouse. I want to use my keyboard. So how do I get up into this formula bar without using the mouse? I press F2, and if I use my arrow keys, I can now move around inside that formula. So I go to the end of the formula because I wanna get rid of N8, which is the five. So I delete that out. Backspace, backspace. And now I want to add the seven that's in N10. But if I use my arrow keys, I'm stuck in the formula bar. So how do I get out the formula bar and back into my spreadsheet so that I can select the seven using my arrow keys? To do that, I press F2 again. Now, if I use my arrow keys, I'm back in the spreadsheet and I can go and select the correct number. If I press enter, my formula has now been updated. So to recap, F2 jumps you into the formula bar. You use your arrow keys to move around in that formula. So say now I decide, actually, I want to get rid of that three in N6. Delete the three out now to go back into my spreadsheet to add the five. Instead I press F2 again, and then my arrow keys will bring me into the spreadsheet and I select the number I want and press enter. So F2 allows me to jump into and out of the formula bar without using my mouse.
