Apple vs Facebook COGS SG&A Technical QuestionTranscript
If we were to look, if somebody would ask you to investigate Apple versus Facebook What would be the key difference when we look at Cox and SG&A in terms of Apple versus Facebook, what do you think The key difference between COGS and SG&A for Apple and Facebook book? Thank you. Yeah, no, I'll let you talk. Sorry.
I mean, if you, if you have anything else? No, I just wanted to say, think about the business model and think about how they, different business model.
What type of company is it? Is it a manufacturing company? Is it a service company, etc.
And what does that mean in terms of Cox and SG&A for both? Yeah. So I think for Apple, as you kind of mentioned, they're obviously producing an actual tangible product.
And with that would come with higher cost of goods sold.
whereas Facebook or Meta, would have sort of higher, SG&A but lower cost of goods sold because they're not actually producing a particular product.
So that's my initial thoughts on that sort of thing.
Yeah, you're absolutely spot on. Is 100% correct.
It's quite amazing because both companies actually have a very similar even margin.
They just take a very different route. Yeah. and I picked those two because, apple, believe it or not, has one of the lowest SG&A and a margins in the world, as a percentage of sales around 4 to 5%.
whereas of, and whereas of course if you looked at, Facebook is very different because it's, it's just a, it's a very different business model. They don't manufacture anything at all.
