- So what would you have give, people are preparing for an interview and I know that this, when we're recording this is May and the interview cycle has kind of passed. But what would you for the fall, what would you recommend people do in preparing for an interview? - So I would say more tactically if you haven't secured a full-time offer and you know you're gonna be interviewing again or maybe you're one of those wily analysts that does get a full-time offer and then immediately gets back into the job shopping scene to shop it which is, it's valid, it's a valid thing to do. Number one, I would say is, and this is an easy one, but it's also one that I don't see people doing oddly enough, is to practice. You will be interviewing and look, I don't know what this interview situation's gonna be in the future, but I can definitely see a situation where you're not traveling as much, you're doing a lot of these on the phone because they may not need to be in person. You might be doing more interviews, less practice. Just know that this is a conversation. That's the second thing. It's a conversation you're having with people who have interviewed hundreds. If it's more senior people, maybe thousands of people. So, I wouldn't focus, the trap that I see a lot of people fall into is they focus on memorizing every single little element of their resume. They want to know exactly where the Dow Jones is trading last week. They wanna be able to show people that they're little experts or big experts in something. I would relax on flexing your knowledge and more focus on knowing your resume cold and having every accomplishment on your resume linked to a value. So, if you're trying, if your story, know your story. If your story, for example, is I'm a Liberal Arts graduate who has an interest in finance, works hard and is a team player. If that's your story, you should be able to scan your resume, and I would do this before your interview, and link every accomplishment to one of those values. So, that way your resume is not just a verbatim description of what you've done. It's not some biography, but it's more just like a story that has the evidence for all of these values that you say that you stand for. And when you're in the conversation, always look for opportunities to be able to use those examples to justify the values and not the other way around. - Yeah, I remember when I prepared for an interview years back. I'm at Goldman, I think I had 19 interviews. - Oh yeah. - Crazy. But I can remember they, I was taught to use something called an apple. An apple, it's an acronym. It stands for action, picture, plus lots of enthusiasm. So when you kind of just getting, as you said, a value, it's linking it to an situation you can kind of describe with lots of passion and kind of bring the interviewer into that situation. - Yeah. It's a story. Your resume is something they've already seen. It's a stencil, it's an outline of you. It's up to you to put the color and action into it. And maybe many of the people doing this kind of know that, right? I do think the environment's gotten very competitive. People are pretty smart about what they need to be doing. But always remember, if you're nervous about this, they're interviewing you, they wanna talk to you, they wanna learn about you. That's the key here, right? This is something that is positive in nature and it's also an opportunity for you to learn about the people you might work with and the bank that you might potentially end up spending a lot of time at. So, you have leverage in this situation. Treat it like a conversation. Tell your story and know your resume cold. Your resume is more important than what's going on in the market. Whether or not you can build a discounted cashflow model in under 30 minutes. Those things come secondary to you knowing yourself and knowing the stories behind the values that you wanna show people you have. - Let's talk a bit about the actual internship because in my experience about 80% of people who get an internship will get a
