I'm Uzma, I'm an academic by background. I'm a PhD in biophysics and synthetic biology. And after my PhD I switched into venture capital. And that's what I've been doing for the last coming up to six years. Most recently I was at a firm called Octopus Ventures, where I've built out the firm's investment strategy in tech, bio, and life sciences. I've built their team in that space and a portfolio of six to seven companies, varying from very early stages, straight spin out, pre-seed companies, all the way to series B. And my role was to manage those portfolio companies as a board member, as well as making new investments and setting the strategy and managing a team.
