Company financials. Let's take a look at the financials in FactSet. I'm going to open the left side bar and I'm going to navigate down and select the Financials option. If I just select Key Items, this will give me a quick summary of the key metrics for the company. But if I want a full income statement I can choose the Income Statement option and it will give me either a standardized income statement or I can choose As Reported here. FactSet also gives me the option at the top to choose fiscal years or I can change that to year to date figures. Also, I can change the number of periods. Currently it's showing 10 periods. So if I scroll to the right you can see the data goes all the way from 2013 to 2022. I can reverse the order. Currently its showing from old to latest as we go from left to right but if I click this little double arrow icon here it will flip that around.
I can also download these numbers by selecting this downward arrow icon on the top right and if I choose Download, it will ask me if I want to put it into Excel, and I can choose whether I download the actual values or the FDS codes. If I select FDS codes this means the Excel data will be automatically updated. So, if you don't want the data to automatically update then I would choose values. Coming back to the main screen most of the numbers are clickable, so if I navigate to sales in 2021, for example and then click on that number, it will take me to the source document showing the number in the filing. And that's pretty useful for providing an audit trail.
Sometimes the metrics are calculated numbers so if I choose EBIT here it gives me a breakdown of what is in that number but the items in the actual breakdown are also clickable. So if I click on SG&A Expense, it'll give me a breakdown of that number, and then if I click again, I'll eventually get back to the filing. And that's the source document. So it's rather like a series of Russian dolls, one inside the other as you go. But it's a very good way of ensuring that there is an audit trail to show you where a number comes from.
So in terms of the data we have here, there's an income statement, a balance sheet, and a cashflow statement. There is also ratio analysis down towards the bottom of the financial section, which will give you a good breakdown of the key ratios for the company over the same time period. And you can see it's showing here LTM fiscal quarters, but I can change that just to fiscal years if I prefer. Now let's see how this data differs if I choose to view the financials for a financial institution. So let's see what we see if I look at the financials for Goldman Sachs instead.
You can see that the left sidebar options for financials now let me also view data on regulatory ratios. So for certain industries you may get additional financial information and industry statistics that are relevant for that particular industry. And we can see here for Goldman Sachs we've got some industry statistics and regulatory ratios. So the data here is not just from financial filings there is other industry-specific information as well.
