Alert Manager Earnings releases Factset NewsTranscript
News alerts. Let's take a look at how we can use FactSet to set up news alerts for a company. For this, I'm going to go to the magnifying glass and just type alerts, and you can see that there is an application called Alert Manager. And this will allow me to set up alerts for particular companies. Now, it does come up with some suggested alerts, but I'm going to select news, and I'm gonna choose a single company alert. Let's say I just want news alerts for Apple. So I'm gonna call this alert Apple News, and I'm gonna choose the company, which is Apple, and I'll do that just by typing in the ticker there. And I can be really specific about the subjects that I want. So what I'm gonna do is actually de-select all the news types, and I'm just going to choose earnings releases, because that will alert me when earnings have been released for Apple.
When I scroll down below, I can also choose the sources. So if you have a specific view on the sources that you want to get, you can de-select everything here, and then just select the sources that you're interested in. For example, you might just want earnings releases from the EDGAR system. And that will allow me to add the alert. You can also create keyword alerts, source alerts, and in fact, there's a whole plethora of different alerts that I can create. And those alerts will go either into my inbox by email, or I can choose for them to go to my workstation as a pop-up as well. Also, you can see we've got filings down here, so I could just select alerts for certain filings here. In fact, I could choose anything that hits EDGAR. So again, I can do this for Apple. If I wanted, I can choose from each of the form types, so you can be quite specific about this. And again, you can choose whether you have it in an email or as a pop-up on your workstation. Once I'm happy with my choices, I can then select enable, and that means that my alerts are now set.
