There are two simple ways of inserting tables in PowerPoint.

The first of these is to click on the insert table, icon in the content box, which allows you to specify the number of columns and the number of rows in the table. Okay, so we can make it a maybe five columns and six rows and hit enter and then your table appears and you'll notice that all the dimensions are the same. So all the column words are exactly the same here or the rows are exactly the same height. Okay.

Similarly, we can go via the The insert menu, which is alt nt4 table. And now we get this little kind of one by one table box appear that we can expand. We use the arrow keys. We can make it bigger. So more rows and columns or smaller. Okay, so I'm just going left Arrow to make it smaller right arrow and down arrow to make it bigger. Okay, if we want more than a 10 by 8 table, which is the maximum size we can get to, then we have to press. I to insert a table.

And that's where we can specify the number of rows and columns, which is the same the same command box. You got when we, when we clicked on the insert table icon in the first place. Okay, so I'm going to go with it a table now of five columns and 5 rows. Okay, great. Now in the interest of time, here's one we prepared earlier. So I'm going to go to the next slide and we'll just going to talk a little bit now about how you can format tables, and make them look a little bit different.

So if you click on the table, you'll see at the very top of the screen in the ribbon menu. You've got two additional menus of that have appeared, you have the table design and the layout. Okay. So let's look at the table design. First of all, okay, and this is really about quickly updating the look and the feel. So for instance, we might decide that we want more emphasis in the First Column. Okay, the First Column represents the division. Okay, so we emphasize the Column, we might also want to change the color. So I wanted to make my table orange, for instance. So that's, that's a quick way of handling that that's in the table design menu in the layout menu. This gives us control about adding removing, or merging cells. Okay. So, all of that takes place on the left hand side here. It also allows us to accurately control, the dimensions, and the text alignment. So for instance, we might decide that we want to The moment you can stand maybe not quite tell this but you that the text is actually aligned towards the top of each cell is you see this? See this setting here A-line top. So the text is all aligned to the top of the cell. We might decide what the numbers to actually be aligned Center Center vertically. So if I press that button here that moves the numbers down a little bit.

I may have may also want them to be Central in there as well, which case I just use the shortcut, Ctrl e, + Ctrl e will Center.

All the text. Okay, we have some other controls as well. We might decide that we want to make the First Column much big and a particular width. Maybe we've got lots of different tables. We want to accurately control the width of the, of each of the cells in each of the tables. Okay. So let's say we want that with to be 6 centimeters. We can we can control that in here. Okay. So, in the cell size section, so I can just type 6 in here. There we go. Obviously I can Access some of these menus using them using the using the keyboard shortcuts as well, but I'm just doing it with the mouse because it's a bit quicker in this case. Okay. So anyhow, you can play around with as much as you want to just making sure that you get nice and consistent so that your tables look good.

Now, just bear in mind that like with shapes if you change the size of a table.

Okay, you don't actually have full control and the text size. Will stay exactly the same. So you do need to be a bit careful. Also with some of the aspect ratio.

I was as well. But if you say you did do this you were playing around with the table and it's Suddenly It's suddenly broke like it has done here. Okay, we've got a very weird looking lower row. We can we can now redistribute the rose. We can click on this distribute rows button there, and that's the height we wanted. Then that's fine. It will just automatically change the height of all the rows to suit our needs. Okay, I could make it right. Make it narrower again, distribute rows will allow us to get the kind of the vision that we're looking for for our table.
