Diluted EPS is adjusted earnings divided by fully diluted WASO, your weighted average shares outstanding. The adjusted earnings is very similar to that used in basic EPS. The big difference here is that you take that basic number, and you adjust it for convertible bond interest. If convertible bonds can be converted into equity, then we don't have to pay the interest on them anymore, in which case, we can save that interest from our enumerator. Our adjusted loans can add back the interest. For our denominator, we need the number of shares, and again, this is the basic number that we use in the basic EPS, but we now adjust it for future potential dilution. So we need to add on the extra shares created from financial instruments that could be converted into shares.
