Home Ribbon Live PreviewTranscript
In this session, I want to experiment with the font section of the ribbon. This sheet has lots of information in it, and I'd like to change how it looks. Let's experiment with what's available. I'm in cell C four, and I'm going to go up to the font section of the ribbon.
Now, if I click on the dropdown, I can hover over the various fonts and Excel has something called live preview. If you look in cell C four, you can see the font changing. As I scroll through the various fonts, I'm going to select aerial click on that, and that has now been applied.
But what if I want to apply this font to lots of cells? Well, I could hover over the letter B, click on that to select column B. I could do the same with column C or column D. I could also select a row by clicking into the row number.
If I want to select everything, I click in the top left hand corner, I go up to the dropdown because I already know what I want. I'm just gonna start typing aerial press enter. And that has now been applied to everything.
However, I'm looking at column A and thinking. I'd really love to make everything in column A bold. So I'm going to click on the A. To select the column, go up to the ribbon and click on the B For bold.
However, I realize I do not want a one Excel preparation to be in bold. So if I click into a one, go back up to the ribbon, click on the B again to turn it off. We can see Excel preparation is now not bold anymore.
In row four, I've got lots of headings, and I'd like to change the font of those headings. So I select the headings. And this time let's use our accelerator keys. I press Alt H for the home ribbon, and then F F for the font.
This time, let's select Times New Roman. I start typing times Excel auto completes it for me. I press enter, and that has now been applied to my headings.
I now want to change the font size.
I can use these two buttons to enlarge the size or decrease the size, or I can go up to the number 11. There's a dropdown next to that, and I can experiment with the different font sizes. And we can see Excel is showing us the live preview, and I'm going to select 12.
Lastly, I'd like to change the font color. Again, let's use the accelerator shortcuts. So I press alt H for the home ribbon, and then F C for font color. And I use my arrow keys to select the color I like. And I'm going to select Blue Press Enter, and that has now been applied.
