Review how to format specific qualities of a cell

Setting Up a ModelTranscript
I want to apply four cell styles. I want to apply some cell styles to these percentages. I then want to apply a Date cell style a Multiple cell style, and Hard Code cell style. At the moment, these are all just being shown using the normal cell style, apart from Date. Excel has taken its default date formatting and applied that. So let's do percentages to start off with. I can be in any cell for this, and I hit Alt+H+J. I find the Percent in the bottom right-hand corner, I right-click that, and I hit Modify. I only have number ticked, I don't want to use a different alignment, font, border, fill, or protection from normal. So if I untick them, you'll just use the normal settings. So I click on Format. I then click on Percentage and then Custom. My custom format for a positive will be 0.0 because I want one decimal place. I then show the percentage sign and then underscore, closed bracket. I want to leave a space the size of a closed bracket. I now put a semicolon, and now, it will be a negative. How do I want a negative shown? I want open bracket, 0.0, percentage sign, closed bracket. And that's my percentage done. I click OK, I click OK again. Now, that hasn't applied anywhere because I now need to choose the cells that I want to apply the cell style to. So I've got my four cells chosen, I hit Alt+H+J, and I now go to the Percent. And that has applied it, fantastic. I've got the percentage sign come up. I've got brackets around the negatives. And for the positives, I've left the space the size of a closed bracket. So now all of my decimal places, whether they're positive or negative, line up. Let's change the date, so Alt+H+J again. I now click New. I'm going to create style name Date. And the only thing I want ticked again is the number.
So I click on Format. I now click on Date and then Custom. So this is pretty close to what I want. I want to change the slashes to dashes. I want three Ms so that January comes up as Jan. And I want two Ys. So we got to press OK. OK again. And now I need to select the cells to apply it to. So now Alt+H+J. I go and find Date. That's at the top in my new Custom section. And that has come out exactly as I wanted it. Let's move on to Multiple. So again, Alt+H+J. I'm going to click New Cell Style. I'm going to call it Multiple. And again, the only thing I want ticked is number. I don't want to change the alignment and font, etcetera.
So here, I've got the beginnings of what I want on screen.
So I now add in the extras that I want. I just want an X within my positive. So I've got a thousand separator, one decimal place, and then space X. And then for the negative, basically the same thing, 0.0, space X. Press OK. Press OK again. Select the cells you want to apply the cell style to. Alt+H+J. And right up the top, apply Multiple. And those Xs have appeared. The last one want to do is Hard Code. So again Alt+H+J. I click New Cell Style. And I want to call this Hard Code.
The only thing I want to change here is the font color. I want that to be blue. So I have font ticked. I click on Format. And now instead of going to the Number tab, I go to the Font tab. For the color that's going to appear here, I could choose one of these predefined colors, I want to be a bit more exact, so I click on More Colors. I then click on Custom. And I want my red zero, want my green zero, and I want my blue to be 255. I press OK. OK and OK a third time. Select the cells I want to apply it to. Alt+H+J. And up in the Custom section, there you've now got Hard Code.
